About

You work with an advisor, not an agency.

Taiwo Adefiyiju-Monwuba, Ed.D.

Founder & Lead Consultant

Dr. Taiwo Adefiyiju-Monwuba has dedicated nearly a decade to guiding students through their collegiate journey, from career education offices to intimate discussions at the kitchen table where college lists are crafted. Since 2016, she has personally counseled high school students across Rhode Island and Massachusetts, as well as international students from Africa and Europe, through the entire college search and application process. COMPASS emerged from a clear observation: students thrive when they have a consistent advisor accompanying them throughout the entire journey, rather than encountering a different voice at each milestone.

Dr. Taiwo Adefiyiju-Monwuba is currently the Dean of Students in higher education, where she is responsible for overseeing student support services that include advocacy, accessibility, wellness, and student conduct. Prior to this position, she spent six years in various roles within student affairs, providing daily assistance to students with tasks such as résumé writing, graduate school applications, personal statement guidance, interview preparation, and professional development strategies. Her educational qualifications include a Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership and a Master of Education in Higher Education.

Her advisory services encompass the entire COMPASS journey, including the development of balanced college lists comprising reach, target, and likely institutions; the coaching of personal statements and supplemental essays from the brainstorming phase to the final draft; the preparation for mock admissions and scholarship interviews; the development of résumés; and the formulation of job-search strategies for graduates planning their subsequent steps. Her methodology is founded on a fundamental belief that students achieve their best work with guidance and support rather than through lectures, and with a single consistent advisor throughout the entire process.

How she works

Three principles behind every session

Direction, not pressure

No admissions panic, no job-market dread. Students do their best work when someone hands them a bearing, not a deadline lecture.

The student holds the compass

Parents are partners and stay informed through the portal — but the plan is built with the student, in their own words and interests.

Everything in writing

Every plan, draft, and piece of feedback lives in your client portal with a status you can see. Nothing rides on memory or a lost email.

Beyond 1:1 advising

Workshops, camps & speaking

Dr. Adefiyiju-Monwuba also works with groups — bringing the same advising to a classroom, a camp session, or an auditorium.

School workshops

Hands-on sessions for high school students: college list building, personal statement bootcamps, application timelines, and interview practice — built to fit a class period or a half-day.

Camp & summer programs

Multi-session college and career readiness programming for camps and youth organizations, designed for the students in the room — not a slideshow off the shelf.

Speaking engagements

Keynotes, panels, parent nights, and staff professional development on admissions, student success, and career readiness — drawn from a decade of leadership in higher education.
